Stage 12, Hollywood Center Studio's dedicated Green Screen Stage, recently played host to nearly two dozen stars from E! Entertainment Moving Parts Inc. shows taking part in the production of the network's new on-air promotional campaign. The shoot was produced by , a Burbank production company specializing in network branding. Some 19 stars of E! shows were shot on the stage's three-wall, hard cove cyc. The stars' images were subsequently composited into stylized 2D and 3D environments created by the award-winning design house Prologue Films.
"The new promos present the stars in an atmosphere that says 'Hollywood,'" explains Moving Parts producer Romi Laine. "It's very glamorous and beautiful. They are also designed to capture the personalities of the actors, their relationships, playfulness and chemistry."
As one of few green screen stages large enough to accommodate multifaceted productions, Stage 12 helped the E! shoot proceed smoothly. "The three wall, chroma green environment allowed us to shoot in any direction seamlessly," Laine says. "Other spaces require you to hang green wraps, which leads to problems with color variation. It's also prelit with 6K lighting, and there are dressing rooms, wardrobe and hair right next to the stage."
Those resources helped Moving Parts complete its work with the full complement of celebrities in just two days. "With 19 actors, their managers and our clients coming and going, it is important to have everything you need immediately accessible," Laine observes. "Stage 12 helped us work very quickly. It was great."
E! Entertainment's new on-air campaign breaks this month. Sara Hamilton, vice president for special projects and on-air promotions, produced the campaign for E! Entertainment. Prologue Films' creative team was led by Clarissa Donlevy and Monica Perez.
