The Schweet Smell of Success

Reality TV producer Schweet Entertainment sets up shop at Hollywood Center Studios

Calling themselves “three bearded dudes,” executive producers Rob Worsoff, Jack Osbourne and Brian Wendel are starting to generate serious buzz in Hollywood, and not only for their impressive facial hair. Their newly-launched production company Schweet Entertainment, which recently opened production offices at Hollywood Center Studios, already has one hit series under its belt, the National Geographic reality show Alpha Dogs, and is busily developing new series for National Geographic, A&E, the Style Network and E! As a sideline, the company produced video for 2013 World Tour of Black Sabbath. Osbourne earlier produced the theatrical documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne under the Schweet umbrella.

“We’re a full-service television production company,” says Worsoff. “We’re three longtime friends with a combined 30 plus years of entertainment industry experience. We’ve worked on and created some of unscripted television’s biggest hits –and our goal is to create many, many more!”

Worsoff and Osbourne originally met in 2006 when the former was a producer and the latter a cast member of the CBS reality series Armed & Famous. Worsoff was a veteran show runner, whose credits included Duck Dynasty, Millionaire Matchmaker, Auction Hunters and The Biggest Loser. Osbourne had been a television star since his teen years on MTV’s The Osbournes, and had developed an interest in producing his own shows. Last year, Osbourne had an idea for a show based on an Indiana training facility for police dogs. Worsoff helped him produce a sizzle reel and that led to a deal with Nat Geo for 16 episodes of Alpha Dogs. They enlisted the support of Wendel, who had headed post-production operations for such shows as Undercover Boss, The Biggest Loser and Beauty and the Geek. In short order, Schweet Entertainment was born.

When the three men began looking for a site for their production offices, Hollywood Center Studios was one of their first stops. They investigated other locations, but none offered the same combination of resources and ambiance. “It’s got a good vibe,” says Osbourne. “We really liked the garden offices, and loved the history. It captured our hearts from the very beginning.”

With its central location and easy parking, HCS is a convenient place to call home. The lot also offers plenty of room to expand as Schweet’s shows move from development into production. Having ready access to world-class shooting stages is a plus. There are also tangible and intangible benefits to being located near many other creative companies who often find opportunities to collaborate. Wendel notes that Schweet received a warm welcome onto the lot by Believe Media, a commercial production company, whose offices are adjacent to Schweet.

“We can come and go easily; the place is bright and sunny,” Wendel observes. “The whole thing just works.”
